HEALTH FOR ALL – MCDS DREAM
MCDS Clinic - on – Wheels
The sick among the poor especially in the slums of Chennai have very little access to health care. Those relocated after the Tsunami and Chennai Floods are also in similar situation, away from medical facilities.
MCDS Clinic on Wheels launched in April 2006, consisting of a doctor and supporting staff with sufficient stock of medicines visits stipulated slums and relocated slum areas from Monday through Saturday.
Screening and Awareness:
- Cancer Awareness
- Eye Screening & Free Spectacles
- HIV Awareness
- TB Awareness
- Health & Hygiene
- Mental Health Awareness
Equal emphasis is given to promotive, preventive as well as curative aspects.
Some of the major interventions include:
- Prenatal and antenatal care
- Mother and Child care programme
- Immunization programme
- Prevention and management of malnutrition among children
- Organization of general health screening and treatment
- Conducting special camps on Dentistry, Ophthalmology, ENT, Neurology and Gynaecology at regular intervals
- Schizophrenia Research Foundation(SCARF)
- Mental health awareness programmes and camps
